Due to the REACH Legislation the safe use of mixtures must be described in Exposure Scenarios attached to the revised extended Safety Data Sheet (ext-SDS), if one or more components of the mixture is hazardous. This means that each company has to process the relevant Exposure Scenario data of one or more components into the companies’ product SDSs.
This workshop provides procedures and tools for the processing of Exposure Scenarios for mixtures and practical training in using them. The preparation of an ext-SDS for a mixture starts with the identification of the lead substance(s) in the mixture for both human health and environmental risks. Additionally, the operational conditions for each use of the mixture need to be defined and appropriate risk management measures need to be selected.
If the ext-SDS of the lead substance in the mixture is already available this might imply scaling in case that the assumed operational conditions do not match with the use of your product. If the ext-SDS of the lead substance is not yet available, a procedure including a practical format will be demonstrated to assess the risks and to select the appropriate risk management by yourself.

Approach
After a short introduction and demonstration of the procedure and tools, you will work on practical exercises (more than 50% of the available time). You may practice with your own mixture/product. There will be ample opportunity to discuss and share own experiences with the trainers and other workshop participants. Recognized by Dutch SKO certification for occupational hygienist and safety experts (2 points).
